CLAVINOVA MODELS COMPARISON TABLE
Yamaha Clavinova came to life in 1983. The aim was to create an electric keyboard that could reproduce the sound and feel of an acoustic concert grand. Since then, the Clavinova range has been extended and enhanced with features beyond what the innovators of the first models dreamed possible.
Because there are many pianos in the Yamaha Clavinova range, it can be difficult to decide which one to buy. They are expensive pianos and we don’t want to get this one wrong!
In this post, we break it down for you and hopefully leave you clearer on which piano best suits your particular needs.
First of all, we will look at the three series of pianos in the Yamaha Clavinova range – the CLP, CSP, and CVP. Then we will break those down further looking at what pianos are in each series with a comparison table for the specs of the models in each series.
Yamaha Clavinova CLP vs CSP vs CVP
Yamaha Clavinova models and prices
Now let’s delve in a little deeper and look at the models in each series. I have published the manufacturer’s suggested retail price range for each model as the prices change regularly. Click through to the retailer to see the current prices.
To compare the models – you’ll see a Clavinova models comparison table under the title of each series below in PDF format. I have published each table as a PDF because the specs are so extensive.
YAMAHA CLAVINOVA CLP SERIES
The CLP series is the one that you go for if you want the closest thing to an acoustic piano you can find. It hasn’t got many buttons and the few it has, are neatly on one end of the keyboard. It has a good traditional style cabinet that gives the look and feel of a traditional upright acoustic piano. So it is like an acoustic piano with discreet digital power.
There are 7 models in the CLP series which I am listing below with a link to view on Sam Ash. Click through for the price as they are generally lower than the MSRP.

There are lights you can turn on above the keys that guide you to the correct note. You can even turn your audio files into piano scores and then follow the lights to learn to play the piece, note by note.
